Journalist claims Spurs sources ‘confident’ Conte will sign new contract

As rumours emerge surrounding the future of Antonio Conte amid reported interest from Juventus, journalist Ben Jacobs has calmed the nerves of Tottenham Hotspur fans by claiming he is confident the Italian will sign a new deal.

Conte took over at Tottenham less than a year ago, in November 2021. Since then, the North London club have gone from strength to strength, and qualified for this year’s Champions League after a top-four finish last season.

However, Conte is not known to stick around for long wherever he goes in his managerial career. With a relatively short-term contract, the rumour mill has hardly rested when it comes to Conte’s future at Tottenham.

Most recently, there are murmurs that Italian side Juventus may part ways with their manager Massimiliano Allegri. Apparently, Conte’s former club may want to bring him back, but Fabrizio Romano has already dismissed the idea that Allegri is on his way out.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato reported Conte had delayed talks of a new deal with Spurs while he awaits an approach from Juventus, but Ben Jacobs reckons there’s no need to worry about the situation if you’re a Tottenham fan.

On the Done Deal Show, Jacobs suggested a new contract for Conte is imminent.

“Right now, if Allegri was sacked, Conte would not quit Spurs for Juventus. It would be a big decision if an offer was made, but he’s been backed and he’s flying at Tottenham.

“There may be a conversation to be had, but when you speak to Tottenham sources they remain extremely confident, whether it be this month or by early next year they will get Conte to sign a new deal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It feels like typical international break conspiracy theories once again, where sections of the media like to create stories about Spurs falling apart, whether it be Conte leaving or Harry Kane eyeing a move away.

With the faith that has been put in Conte, the squad he is building, and the apparent passion he has for this project, I would be very surprised if he didn’t commit to a new deal at the first opportunity.
