Journalist claims Tanguy Ndombele has said yes to joining Champions League semi-finalists

Tanguy Ndombele has given the green light to make the move to Villarreal, according to Spanish-based journalist Xavi Jorquera Marquez.

The journalist took to Twitter to reveal that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has spoken to Villarreal manager Unai Emery about the prospect of joining the Yellow Submarine and has been left excited at the prospect of making the move.

Ndombele, who became the club’s record signing when he joined from Lyon in July 2019 for £55million (Independent) spent the second half of last season on loan back at his former side and failed to make enough of an impact for the Ligue 1 outfit to activate an option to sign him on a permanent basis.

The French international is firmly out of Antonio Conte’s plans at Tottenham along with fellow midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, which has seen both players earlier this week linked with a move to the Champions League semi-finalists as separate loan deals which could be made permanent if certain targets are achieved (Fabrizio Romano).

Ndombele has no future at Tottenham and his £200,000-a-week salary and the fee which Spurs are likely to want mean a loan deal is the most likely outcome for this summer.

Even if Villarreal stump up to pay 50% of his salary, it would represent a huge financial saving for the club and the hope the Frenchman can catch the eye during his time in Spain to attract a respectable amount of money for him next summer.
