Journalist claims Tottenham 20-year-old has been offered to La Liga club

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Bryan Gil could leave Tottenham Hotspur in January, just six months after joining the club from Sevilla.

Gil has not quite hit the ground running at Tottenham and has struggled for game time both under Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.

The 20-year-old did come on for Emerson Royal in the latter stages of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against the Saints on Tuesday, as Conte’s men were chasing the game against a ten-man Southampton side.

While the youngster looked to take defenders on and showed glimpses of his quality, he was not quite able to make the difference in the final third.

Spanish publication AS revealed earlier this month that while Luis Enrique had earmarked the Tottenham man for a place in Spain’s squad for the Qatar World Cup, his lack of game time in North London was diminishing his chances of making the team.

If Romero’s latest update is to be believed, Gil could have a chance to return to La Liga to prove his worth.

The journalist has claimed that the winger’s representatives have offered him to Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window.

It would make little sense for Spurs to sell Gil, given that he was signed as a future prospect rather than as a player who was expected to have an instant impact on the first team. However, a loan move away from Tottenham in January could be beneficial for the youngster’s development.
