Journalist claims Tottenham are ‘certainly’ looking at 27-year-old defender

Journalist Carlo Garganese is confident that Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar is on Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window.

Tottenham are thought to be on the lookout for reinforcements in central defence in January, with 90 min reporting last month that Skriniar, whose contract runs out next summer, is one of the names on the club’s radar.

The report added that Spurs and several of the top clubs in the Premier League are monitoring the Slovak’s situation.

FC Inter News subsequently revealed last week that Chelsea have already reached out to the centre-back’s representatives regarding a January move while PSG are also ready to pounce on the defender if he does not sign a new contract at the San Siro.

The report explained Inter would have to raise their current contract offer of €5.5m (£4.7m) per season to around €6.5m (£5.5m) plus bonuses in order to convince the 27-year-old to sign on the dotted line.

Garganese has now said that Spurs are ‘certainly’ in the race for Skriniar but added that PSG are the club who are most intent on securing the centre-back’s signature.

When asked about the speculation linking the Inter star with a move to Spurs, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “They’re certainly looking at him. There are lots of teams looking at him.

“PSG are the team that are most interested in him. PSG tried to sign him in the summer. They were in negotiations with Inter for a long time.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There will likely be a whole host of clubs who join the queue for Skriniar in January if the Slovak does not agree on a new contract with Inter.  However, I believe that the former Sampdoria man will put pen to paper on a new deal at the San Siro, especially after Giuseppe Marotta expressed optimism on the matter recently.
