Journalist claims Tottenham are interested in young Leicester City star

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur could raid Leicester City once more and try to sign talented youngster, Kasey McAteer, but the Foxes are likely to try and hold on to him for now.

Tottenham already capitalised on Leicester City’s relegation from the top flight during the summer to snap up James Maddison, who proved to be a top signing for Ange Postecoglou‘s side before he got injured back in November.

Meanwhile, the Championship club are flying high right now and look destined to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

One advantage of the Foxes dropping down a division is the fact they have been able to give younger players the opportunity to flourish, and that is something Kasey McAteer has done. The 22-year-old registered five goals in his first 15 appearances this season before sustaining an injury (Transfermarkt).

Spurs want Kasey McAteer from Leicester City

It is no surprise that bigger clubs are monitoring McAteer’s situation, and now, Ben Jacobs has told the Spurs Chat Podcast that the Leicester attacker is on Tottenham’s radar, though we shouldn’t expect a transfer any time soon.

Jacobs said: “The other player Tottenham are looking at, a different type of player to the ones we have mentioned is Kasey McAteer at Leicester, they really like him.

“He started well for Leicester, but then he got an injury, with Leicester flying they’re likely to get promotion to the Premier League. I’m not sure anything is possible there in 2024 just because he’s in the right place for his development.”

At the start of the season, McAteer was at the heart of everything for Leicester and really made an impression with his goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup. He is exactly the kind of profile of player Spurs are looking at these days, but I wouldn’t expect a move right now while Leicester are pushing for promotion.
