Journalist claims Tottenham are prioritising sale of 25-year-old this summer

Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham have made offloading unsettled midfielder Tanguy Ndombele a priority this summer.

Ndombele made just nine appearances in the Premier League for Spurs last season (Transfermarkt) before being loaned out to former side Lyon in January for the second half of the campaign.

The 25-year-old played 15 games for the French club and contributed to three goals (Transfermarkt) as they reached the Europa League quarter-final and finished eighth in Ligue 1.

However, he is currently set to return to parent club Spurs over the summer after Lyon opted against activating the £54 million buy option to make the deal permanent (Evening Standard).

With Ndombele’s future in North London likely to remain up in the air, Jones believes Spurs are currently struggling to find suitors to take him on but expects options to open up as the transfer window progresses.

He told GiveMeSport: “They’re trying to find clubs for people. Ndombele is going to be one of the toughest, because at the moment there’s no buyer out there. If they can’t find one, there’s no plan for him at the club.

“So, they’ll have to then find another loan deal that suits him. That’s become one of the main priorities, I think, once the month starts to wear on.”

Ndombele evidently doesn’t have a future at Spurs, given he didn’t really impress Conte earlier on last season. He is a talented player so that could work in Spurs’ favour when trying to sell him, but it will be impossible to get anything close to his original price.
