Journalist comments on whether Spurs are likely to move for attacking midfielder

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has indicated that Tottenham may not move for QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze this summer.

Eze has been one of the standout players in the Championship this season having netted an impressive twelve goals and provided eight assists in all competitions so far this campaign (transfermarkt).

He has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last few weeks, with reports claiming QPR are ready to sell him for around £20 million (The Sun).

QPR’s director of football, Les Ferdinand, has previously admitted that the club may have no choice but to let Eze go if a potential suitor meets their asking price for him in the summer (Beautiful Game Podcast via The Standard).

However, Lyall Thomas has doubts over the Lilywhites are planning to move for the 21-year-old this summer.

In a response to a question from a fan as a part of a Q and A, the journalist indicated that while Spurs admire the QPR star, they feel that the jump from Rangers to Tottenham is too big for the youngster to make right now.

Thomas wrote on the Sky Sports site: “Eberechi Eze is good young talent and Spurs like him but it might be too big a jump for him from QPR,”

Spurs Web Opinion

Eze is one of those players who looks ridiculously good in video compilations, which is why so many Spurs fans seem to be desperate for the club to sign him. There is no doubt an element of a gamble involved in buying him this summer.

However, I fear that we might come to regret it in a year or two if we don’t snap him up this summer, as his value could potentially go up considerably after another good season.
