Journalist confirms Tottenham interest in 19-year-old German midfield starlet

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Schalke midfielder Can Bozdogan ahead of the summer transfer window.

The promising young midfielder only broke into Schalke’s senior side on matchday 31 of the Bundesliga season and has gone on to make three appearances for the Gelsenkirchen outfit in the league, as well as three cup outings.

The 19-year-old is considered one of the most promising young midfield talents in German football, having represented his country from Under-15 level through to the Under-18s.

While it is still early days for the youngster in the Schalke first-team, his performances have reportedly already caught the eye of potential suitors.

Transfermarkt.com have suggested that Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are both considering making a move for the youngster.

Gold has now confirmed in a Q and A that the Schalke midfielder is one of several Bundesliga talents that Spurs are watching closely.

He also suggested that the Lilywhites are only likely to do a few bargain deals this summer unless they receive a massive cash injection in the form of player sales.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have been linked with several young talents from across England as well as Europe for the past few months. The links are not surprising considering many young players could potentially become available this summer due to the financial issues of various clubs. If we act smartly this summer, we could potentially bring in some great talented youngsters, which could help secure the club’s future for years to come. Our recruitment of young talents is just as important to get right as moves for first-team options.
