Journalist confirms Tottenham’s interest in attack-minded pair

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick believes that Spurs are likely to push ahead with potential moves for Chelsea’s Willian and QPR’s Eberechi Eze when the transfer market reopens in the summer.

Willian’s contract with the Blues runs out in the summer and he admitted in a recent interview with Esporte Interativo that there have been no developments regarding a new contract.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have installed Tottenham as the favourites to secure his signature when his contract at Stamford Bridge runs out.

Tottenham have also been heavily linked with a move for Eze (The Sun), whose performances in the Championship this season have propelled him to notoriety.

It is claimed that QPR are demanding around £20 million for the 21-year-old in the summer.

In a Q and A session, Kilpatrick was asked about Tottenham’s interest in the pair and he suggested that there was truth to both rumours.

The journalist said: “Mourinho is a fan of Willian and if the Brazilian leaves Chelsea on a free, as expected, and wants to stay in London, he would seem a sensible signing (if Levy will allow him back in the building!).

“Eze has long been on Spurs’ radar and they are continuing to monitor his situation after an impressive campaign for QPR.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While I can see us moving for one of either Eze or Willian, I can’t see us attempting to bring both players in given that we are well stocked in wide areas with the likes of Bergwijn, Lamela, Son, Lucas and Sessegnon. I would personally prefer us to sign Eze over Willian as the Brazilian will only be a temporary stop-gap rather than a long-term option.
