CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have not yet approached Julian Nageslmann in any significant way.
It was reported soon after Nagelsmann’s sacking by Bayern Munich that the German had shot to the top of Tottenham’s wishlist (The Times).
Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel earlier this week that Chelsea had also made a move for the German and that he had expressed an interest in taking over at Stamford Bridge.
Football Insider claimed on Friday that Nagelsmann very much remains at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist and that the North London club are prepared to wait until the summer to get him as the 35-year-old is not keen on taking any job immediately.
The publication added that Spurs believe qualifying for Europe could give them an advantage over Chelsea in the race for the former RB Leipzig boss.
However, according to Jacobs, as things stand, Tottenham have not made a ‘significant’ move for Nagelsmann.
He said on The Blues Brothers YouTube channel: “The last thing Chelsea will want is a phenomenal manager who doesn’t suit them, and it’s a two-way thing as well.
“Nagelsmann has lots of offers, not all of them have been tabled yet, it’s not just Chelsea deciding who they want, it’s the manager deciding who is the right fit.
“By all accounts, Nagelsmann is open to Chelsea, and Tottenham haven’t made their move yet to a significant degree.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I find it hard to believe that Tottenham would not have reached out to Nagelsmann, given that he is evidently the best option available on the market at the moment.
However, one would expect the club to be making contingency plans as there is a decent chance that the 35-year-old would be out of our reach.
