Journalist delivers update on Heung-min Son transfer rumours

Sport Bild journalist, Christian Falk has dismissed the speculation linking Son Heung-min with a move to Bayern Munich.

Multiple reports (Eurosport and Telegraph) over the last few months have indicated that Son is close to agreeing on a new contract with Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho has himself expressed his confidence that the South Korean will sign a new deal with the club.

However, there have been reports this week suggesting that Bayern could be readying a summer offer for the South Korean, who made a name for himself in the Bundesliga with Hamburger and Bayer Leverkusen before arriving at Tottenham in 2015.

However, Falk has insisted that the Germain champions are not interested in the Tottenham star and that these rumours have been fed to the press by Son’s agent.

Falk is not the only one who has dismissed the notion of Bayern making a move for Son, with European football expert Kevin Hatchard also ruling out the possibility.

Hatchard has told talkSPORT: “It doesn’t quite feel like a Bayern move to me, per se.

“They’ve obviously spent a lot of money on bringing Leroy Sane in and there are areas of the team that need bolstering more than that.

“I’d be surprised and I’d be surprised on his part as well. He’s kind of done with Germany.

“He was very good at Leverkusen and was at Hamburg before then, but his drive was always to get to the Premier League.

“For him to then go back to Germany, I’d be surprised. Serge Gnabry is a great player for them, he’s had a bit of a dip this season, but has generally been good.

“Sane is starting to really make an impact. They’ve got Kingsley Coman who is a terrific player. In those wide areas, I think they are okay. There’s been talk this week about Lewandowski and him extending his contract beyond 2023.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With the amount of speculation we have seen regarding Kane’s future in recent months, it is rather surprising that there have not been too many rumours about Son, particularly since the forward has a year less than Kane left on his contract. Perhaps that is a hint that the player’s entourage are close to reaching an agreement with Spurs over a new deal.
