Journalist explains how Nagelsmann’s Chelsea talks went amid Spurs links

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has handed a blow to Tottenham by revealing that Julian Nageslmann’s talks with Chelsea were ‘very positive’.

According to reports over recent weeks, Nagelsmann remains at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte, with Spurs allegedly prepared to do ‘whatever it takes’ to bring the recently departed Bayern boss to the club (Football Insider).

Some outlets in Germany reported recently that Nagelsmann had turned down Tottenham’s approach (SportBild) but The Mirror subsequently revealed that Spurs had ‘poured scorn’ over those suggestions, with the Lilywhites said to be keen on making a big statement with their managerial hire.

The Times reported on Sunday that Chelsea had held a face-to-face meeting with Nagelsmann over potentially replacing Graham Potter.

Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that the meeting went well but added that the 35-year-old will not make a decision on his future unless he is ‘100 per cent convinced’.

One would have expected Tottenham to have held direct talks with Nageslmann if the German was interested in the vacancy.

The fact that Spurs are now holding discussions with the likes of Enrique suggests that the club might have given up on their pursuit of the 35-year-old and moved on to the other names on their wishlist.
