Journalist explains whether Ndombele is likely to still be at Spurs next season

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur want to keep hold of Tanguy Ndombele despite the disappointing first season he has endured in North London.

A lot has been said and written about Jose Mourinho’s troubled relationship with Ndombele since the Special One joined the club in November 2019 (The Athletic).

The midfielder has hardly been used by the Spurs boss since the restart and an injury picked up in training has already brought Ndombele’s season to a premature end.

Reports have suggested that Tottenham have started negotiating the midfielder’s summer sale with Barcelona (L’Equipe).

However, Gold has now claimed that Mourinho is prepared to give the midfielder a chance if he puts his head down and works hard in training.

He claims that Spurs do not wish to sell their record signing just a year after buying him and that they are unlikely to take a big loss on the signing.

The journalist suggests that things could get extremely toxic if Ndombele’s entourage kick up a fuss and look to engineer a move away as Tottenham will not allow the midfielder to leave unless their demands are met.

I believe that if Jose had everything his way, Ndombele would be sold this summer and the funds would be reinvested into the squad. However, it is clear that the Tottenham head coach is under a bit a pressure from the hierarchy to somehow make the Ndombele transfer work given the club’s substantial outlay on the midfielder.
