According to CalcioMercato.it reporter Daniele Trecca, Lazio made one final attempt to land Bryan Gil on transfer deadline day but were simply not able to meet Tottenham’s demands for the winger.
What was expected to be a fairly quiet deadline day at Spurs ended up being quite eventful, with the Lilywhites stealing Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall from under Barcelona’s noses (Matteo Moretto) while Alejo Veliz ended up joining Sevilla on loan until the end of the season.
Another player who was widely backed to leave on loan was Gil, with reports over the final days of the transfer window indicating that Brighton were locked in talks with Tottenham over a temporary deal for the Spaniard (Daily Mail).
However, the move did not go through, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold explaining on Thursday evening that the winger was not particularly keen on leaving Hotspur Way as he is enjoying his football under Ange Postecolgou.

Lazio’s late attempt to sign Bryan Gil from Spurs
Trecca has now taken to social media to reveal that Lazio made one final attempt to secure Gil’s services before the window slammed shut.
The journalist claimed that the Serie A side reached out to the player’s representatives on Thursday regarding a switch to the Italian capital.
However, Tottenham allegedly stepped in and were ‘adamant’ that any loan deal would need to include a conditional obligation to buy, which was beyond Lazio’s means.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Tottenham wanted any loan deal for Gil to include an obligation to buy, that perhaps suggests that Ange does not see the winger as being part of his long-term plans.
I cannot see the 22-year-old getting much game time over the next four or five months, particularly given the impact Timo Werner has had since arriving.
