Journalist gives an update on the future of Luke Amos at Spurs after season on loan

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Jose Mourinho will take a close look at midfielder Luke Amos in pre-season before deciding whether the 23-year-old has a future in North London.

Amos was loaned out to Queens Park Rangers in the Championship at the start of the season after recovering from a long-term injury.

While he was a star for the Under-23s while coming through the ranks at Spurs, he has only gone on to make only one senior appearance for the first-team.

The Spurs man is now 23-years-old and has considerable first-team experience under his belt, with 46 appearances for QPR, Stevenage, and Southend United on loan (Wikipedia).

After his impressive displays in the 2018 pre-season, former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino lauded the youngster’s quality (the Point) and it seemed as if he could be the next academy starlet to break into the first team.

Gold has revealed that the midfielder is one of several young players Mourinho will be keeping a close eye on this summer.

He said: “When it comes to younger players out on loan, Spurs will have to make decisions on the likes of Luke Amos, Jack Roles, George Marsh, Anthony Georgiou and Armando Shashoua.

“All but Shashoua have contracts until 2021. Mourinho is likely to take a close look at Amos who impressed Pochettino two summers ago and was handed his Premier League debut only to suffer an anterior cruciate ligament injury the next month which wrecked much of that season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As far as I’m concerned, Amos’ hopes of making at Spurs are all but over. We will be looking to move him on to a Championship club this summer. However, I still believe the 23-year-old has the quality to play his way back into the Premier League if he can get over his injury troubles.
