Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Yann Sommer is one of the goalkeepers on Tottenham’s radar at the moment.

The 34-year-old shot-stopped is out of contract with Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of the season and Spurs are reportedly looking into what his next plans are.

The Switzerland international has been a steady pair of hands at the top of the game for over a decade now, although Tottenham already have a squad overflowing with experience between the sticks.

Hugo Lloris, the club captain, has been in North London for over a decade and turns 36 later this month, while understudy Fraser Forster is 34 years of age.

ESPN reported recently that Manchester United are also looking at Sommer as a potential summer free transfer option, with the keeper currently earning around £ 62,000 per week in Germany (SalarySport).

Dean Jones said: “Yann Sommer is one that I’ve been told is on the radar [of Tottenham]. They’re just looking to see what he’s looking to do next. So, I think various things will crop up.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Normally, this would be a no-brainer of a transfer to get in an understudy of Sommer’s experience. However, Tottenham are already stacked on that front. If anything, they need a younger keeper who can take over from Lloris for the long-term.
