Journalist hints Spurs could sign Premier League star over Clement Lenglet

PA Sport journalist George Sessions would understand if Tottenham Hotspur abandoned their pursuit of Clement Lenglet to go after Tosin Adarabioyo instead, owing to the shortage of homegrown players in their squad.

Reports from Spain continue to indicate that Barcelona are hopeful that Lenglet’s move to Tottenham will get completed sooner rather than later.

The latest such update came from Sport on Tuesday, with the publication stating that the Catalan club believe a deal can be struck by the end of this week.

The report explained that while Barca were initially demanding €15m (£12.7m), they could end up accepting a bid of around €10m (£8.5m) plus add-ons for the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also seemingly in the market for other centre-backs, with Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba being the most heavily linked with the club.

However, Alasdair Gold said last weekend (Football.London) that Adarabioyo also remains near the top of Spurs’ wishlist, along with the Leverkusen and Wolfsburg stars.

Adarabioyo is attractive to Tottenham this summer

Sessions believes that the Fulham star is a particularly attractive option for the North London club due to their shortage of homegrown numbers.

The journalist said on The Tottenham Way Podcast about Adarabioyo: “He’s got one year left on his deal [at Fulham] Tosin [Adarabioyo].

“I do think Spurs have a little bit of a home-grown issue. So, I can understand why maybe there’s a lot more interest in him than there would be [Clement] Lenglet in terms of that second centre-back role.

“I guess that’s one to keep an eye on and I guess that’s going to lend itself to outgoings as there’s a lot of centre-backs that have shown over the last few years that unfortunately they don’t quite cut it at the level that Spurs want to get to.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I might be in the minority here but I believe that Tanganga can thrive in Postecoglou’s system if given a run in the side.

The 24-year-old is homegrown and has all the attributes needed to play in a high line.

I would not be surprised if the Spurs academy graduate wins over Postecoglou during pre-season.
