Journalist is convinced midfielder will follow Arne Slot if he joins Tottenham

Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen believes that Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu will follow Arne Slot to Tottenham if the Dutchman takes over at the North London club.

With Julian Nagelsmann no longer in the running to take over at Spurs, Slot has reportedly emerged as one of the top candidates to replace Antonio Conte in N17 (Daily Mail).

The Dutchman’s reputation has blossomed in light of Feyenoord’s historic Eredivisie title victory, with reports indicating that the 44-year-old is also on the radars of Leeds United and Crystal Palace (The Athletic).

One man who was crucial to Feyenoord’s march to the title is captain Kokcu, who has arguably been one of the stand-out players in the Dutch top flight this season.

The 22-year-old’s consistent displays in the middle of the park are thought to have caught Spurs’ attention, with The Daily Mirror claiming last month that the Lilywhites had sent scouts to Rotterdam to watch the midfielder in action.

However, the publication stated that Tottenham were not alone in their admiration for the Turkish international, with the likes of Manchester United and Brighton also alleged to be eyeing a move for the player.

Driessen believes that Kokcu’s next destination could depend on where Slot ends up this summer.

The journalist said on De Telegraaf’s Kick-Off Podcast: “Kokcu is going with Arne Slot.

“One plus one makes two. If a very big club becomes available for Slot, I can’t imagine that he won’t want Kokcu.

“If he goes to Tottenham Hotspur, he will try to take Kokcu with him.”

It is under Slot’s tutelage that Kokcu has blossomed and the Dutchman clearly trusts the midfielder, having handed him the captain’s armband at such a young age.

So, it is quite possible that the 44-year-old would urge Spurs to snap up the Turk if he is appointed as Antonio Conte’s replacement.
