Journalist makes bold Pochettino prediction for Tottenham this summer

TalkSport pundit Alex Crook has predicted Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will be tempted to move back to Juventus, which would leave Spurs seeking a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino.

The rumours surrounding the future of Antonio Conte just won’t go away (Calciomercato). The Italian’s contract at Spurs expires in the summer of 2023, and it seems no one knows whether he will stay or go at that time.

Conte took over at Spurs in November 2021, and in just under a year, he has transformed the club in many ways. The squad is stronger and more talented, results on the pitch have improved, and the mentality of the players appears to be improving.

Despite a strong start to the campaign this year, the future at Spurs is still uncertain, with Conte yet to commit to a new deal.

The Telegraph suggested Conte will sign a new contract within the next month, while Football Insider claim this deal could be worth £20 million a year.

According to Alex Crook though, while speaking on TalkSport, Conte may be looking to leave the Spurs project and return to his former club Juventus.

He said: “Can I make a little prediction? I’m looking into my crystal ball and I’ll tell you what happens at Tottenham Hotspur in the future.

“Antonio Conte, yet to commit to a new contract. Max Allegri at Juventus, bang under pressure. Conte goes back to Juventus.

So who do Spurs replace Conte with? Crook has that covered: “Pochettino, wanted by Aston Villa but distances himself from that job because he’s waiting for something bigger. Pochettino back to Tottenham. That is what’s going to happen, you mark my words.”

There’s only one problem with this prediction, and that is, with the state of Juventus at the moment both financially and in terms of their progress in the Champions League this year, I cannot see Conte wanting to sign up for that rebuild project.

Also, as much as I love Pochettino and what he did at Tottenham, I’m a firm believer in moving on and I genuinely doubt whether going back to Pochettino would produce any different outcome to what it did the last time around.
