Journalist names one manager who could bring ‘X-Factor’ back to Tottenham

The Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor has revealed that there was a ‘genuine possibility’ of Mauricio Pochettino returning to Tottenham not too long ago and that the outcome is still very much on the cards.

With Antonio Conte’s future at Spurs seemingly more and more uncertain with each passing week, the possibility of Pochettino completing a fairytale return to the North London club is being talked up in the media.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport two weeks ago that while Daniel Levy is open to bringing the Argentine back, many at Tottenham think it would be ‘unwise’ to do so.

The same information was also provided by The Daily Mail on Sunday, with the publication revealing that the Spurs chairman would need to convince other individuals at the club that re-signing the 51-year-old would be a good idea.

Taylor has now said that the former Tottenham manager’s relationship with Levy remains strong.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “A little while ago, there was a genuine possibility that Pochettino would consider coming back to Spurs and that he was quite interested in doing that.

“He still has quite a close relationship with Daniel Levy. The two got on well for a long time when he was here before.”

He added: “I feel like if Pochettino was to come back, I feel like the X-Factor will come back to Spurs. I feel like it would lift the stadium and the vibe.

“We always talk about ‘will Conte stay at Spurs?’, but actually, is he the right fit for Spurs?”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the wording of Taylor’s statement, it appears as if he thinks Pochettino is now less likely to return to Spurs than he was a little while ago.

I personally fail to understand why that would be the case as the 51-year-old appears to be the best candidate for the job among those who are available.
