Journalist names Spurs as mystery bidders for Ligue 1 striker – But not the reported £75m

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted an offer to Lille for striker Victor Osimhen, according to the latest reports from France.

The Lille star has come into his own this season, netting 18 goals in 38 appearances (transfermarkt.com), and is one of the most highly-rated young forwards in world football.

Spurs were linked with a move for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window (Sky Sports) but he ended up staying put at Lille.

The Nigerian international is also reportedly wanted by the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona (Le10Sport), Manchester United (Le 10 via Inside Football), Arsenal, and Manchester City (Le Quotidien du Foot).

Telefoot claimed at the start of the month that Lille had received an offer of around £75 million for Oshimen, although they claimed that the identity of the bidder is unknown.

While it was initially thought that Chelsea had made the offer, chief editor of Cahiers du Football and L’Observateur, Abdellah Boulma, has now revealed that it is actually Tottenham who made the bid (as relayed by the Express).

However, Boulma insisted that the offer was nowhere near the £75 million as initially claimed by Telefoot.

This does sound like a reliable source, and the fact that Joao Sacramento has worked with Osimhen at Lille might work to our advantage. Mourinho also has a great relationship with Luis Campos which might give us the upper hand in the deal. However, it is hard to see us paying the kind of money it will take to sign Osimhen.
