Journalist names Spurs as one of seven clubs who have looked at forward in the past

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has named Tottenham Hotspur as one of a whole host of clubs who have been monitoring Lille striker Jonathan David.

David first rose to prominence at Gent and his reputation has continued to grow since he made the switch to Ligue 1 three years ago.

The forward finished the 2022-23 campaign with 30 goal contributions across all competitions (26 goals and four assists), and it has now emerged that his displays have caught the attention of several of Europe’s big hitters.

Tottenham have looked at Jonathan David in the past

Jacobs revealed that David has been of interest to Tottenham in the past but he added that Harry Kane is expected to remain at the North London club in the summer.

He also named Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal as clubs who have eyed the Canadian international in the past but insisted that they do not see him as a priority this transfer window.

The journalist revealed that Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli are tracking David this summer while also adding that West Ham United are one to watch in the race for the 23-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Kane now looking likely to stay and Richarlison more than capable of covering for the number nine role, it seems pretty clear that Spurs would prioritise signing wide-forwards this summer.

So, that rules out any move for David, who can only operate as a centre-forward or a second striker.
