Journalist names two attacking players on Spurs’ radar ahead of January

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has claimed that Tottenham could reignite their interest in Adama Traore and Dusan Vlahovic when the transfer window reopens in January.

Tottenham were linked with a move for Traore towards the end of the summer transfer window, with the North London club reportedly having an offer turned down by Wolves for the winger in the final days of the window.

Sources even alleged at the time that the 25-year-old was keen on reuniting with Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham and hired super-agent, Jorge Mendes, to help facilitate the transfer.

Meanwhile, Vlahovic was thought to be Spurs’ number one strike target during the summer and the speculation linking the North London club with the Serbian have not slowed down, even after the window slammed shut.

Sources from Italy claim the Lilywhites are ‘crazy’ about the centre-forward and are still at the front of the queue for his signature.

Eccleshare has now revealed that Tottenham will prioritise an attacking addition when the transfer window reopens in January after trying in vain to strengthen the forward areas in the summer.

He claimed that Traore fits the bill of what Spurs need and Vlahovic remains an option since his contract runs out in 2023.

However, the journalist also added that Tottenham are likely to put off a move for the Fiorentina star until next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Nuno is planning to use Gil as part of a midfield three (as he has done a couple of times already), we are arguably one player short upfront, with just Kane, Son, Lucas and Bergwijn as our forward options.

While Scarlett will get game time in the Conference League, he does not appear ready to make the step up at the moment. So, I can certainly see the logic behind bringing a Traore type player in during January.
