Journalist names who Spurs are focusing on trying to sign next after Maddison

The Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel has said on The Last Word on Spurs that Tottenham are now focused on agreeing on a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Edmond Taposoba.

Tottenham have managed to strengthen two priority positions over the last few days, with Guglielmo Vicario arriving on Tuesday and James Maddison’s capture being announced yesterday.

Spurs have now reportedly turned their attention to strengthening at left centre-back, with Fabrizio Romano taking to social media on Wednesday to reveal that Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven has emerged as the club’s top target.

He asserted that the Lilywhites had already begun talks over a deal for the Dutchman, who was said to be keen on a move to North London.

Romano remarked that while Taposba remains on Tottenham’s radar, Van de Ven is seen as a less expensive option.

Tapsoba is Tottenham’s next summer transfer target

However, this claim has now been contradicted by Mokbel, who says that the Leverkusen star is next on the agenda for Ange Postecoglou’s men following the capture of Maddison.

The journalist states that the Spurs hierarchy are now focused on getting a deal for the 24-year-old over the line.

Taposoba is evidently the more accomplished of the two, having proven himself over a longer time period in the Bundesliga than Van de Ven, who only has one good season under his belt.

However, the Dutchman’s ceiling is very high and Postecoglou might fancy his chances of bringing the best out of him.
