Journalist offers update on ex-Spurs target Fonseca manager rumours

BeIn Sports journalist, Tancredi Palmeri has claimed that any rumours linking Paulo Fonseca to the Fenerbahce job are wide of the mark as there has not been any contact between the two parties.

Reports emerged yesterday that Turkish side, Fenerbache, were close to reaching an agreement with Paulo Fonseca to become the club’s new manager, a man who came close to landing the Tottenham job.

However, other sources have since claimed that the reports are false, meaning that the Portuguese manager is still out of work and available.

At one stage this summer, it appeared that Fonseca to Spurs was a done deal, with Fabio Paratici holding multiple talks with the former Roma man.

However, the deal collapsed seemingly at the last minute as Spurs moved their attentions to Gennaro Gattuso after he left Fiorentina instead.

Tottenham announced Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head coach last night after more than a 70-day wait for fans.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I have to say that part of me was quite looking forward to the all-out attack of Fonseca in North London next season, albeit no more than a sweet release from Mourinho football. However, it appears that Tottenham wanted to go for a safer choice in Nuno with Premier League experience.
