Journalist predicts Chelsea and Spurs may show interest in PL star this summer

CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs has claimed that Jordan Pickford remains one of the top names on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Hugo Lloris next summer.

Of all the names mooted as potential replacements for Lloris over recent months, Pickford’s has appeared the most often.

The Daily Mail explained last month that the North London club are on the lookout for a ball-playing goalkeeper who can make good decisions under pressure, with the Everton number one said to fit the bill.

Pickford’s current contract at Goodison Park runs out in 2024 and reports over the last few weeks have indicated that the goalkeeper is stalling on signing a new deal at the club (The Sun).

Football Insider even reported on January 28 that the England star has made up his mind to leave the Toffees at the end of this season and is aware of Tottenham’s interest in his services.

Jacobs has now become the latest journalist to talk up the possibility of Spurs making a move for the Everton star but he added that Antonio Conte’s men could face competition from Chelsea for the 28-year-old.

When asked about Pickford’s future, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “He is likely to be a highly sought-after name, especially if Everton were to go down. Tottenham are very interested, but Chelsea could be there as well.”

Spurs, Man Utd and Chelsea could all be in the market for a new goalkeeper in the summer and there could thus be a mad scramble for the likes of Pickford and Raya.

It is vital that Spurs qualify for the Champions League as that would give them an advantage over Graham Potter’s men in the race for Everton number one.
