Journalist Pete O’Rourke has told GiveMeSport that Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters would be keen to return to Tottenham Hotspur should his former club come calling for him in the future.
Walker-Peters was a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, developing through the youth teams at the club before playing for the first team. He made 24 first-team appearances for Spurs and scored one goal (Transfermarkt).
The young wing-back spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan at Southampton before making the move permanent in August 2020. Walker-Peters has impressed in his time with the Saints, making 96 appearances and contributing three goals and seven assists (Transfermarkt).
His form with the South coast club even earned him his first two England caps earlier this year (Transfermarkt), before injury saw his hopes of a World Cup place dashed.
According to 90Min back in November, Tottenham were considering making a move to bring Walker-Peters back to the club. The fact Spurs have a £30 million buy-back clause in the deal that saw Walker-Peters leave for Southampton is thought to be a factor in any move Spurs make (The Athletic).
Now, according to O’Rourke for GiveMeSport, the player would have no hesitation in returning to North London should an offer be made.

O’Rourke said: “Southampton look like they’re in a real relegation dogfight now, so I think if Spurs did come calling for Kyle Walker-Peters, even though he’s already left the club once, he would find it hard to turn down the opportunity to return to the club.”

Kyle Walker-Peters is yet another example of a player we let go far too early and it could cost us dearly. He’s a great little player who has developed really well during his time at Southampton, but I’m unsure whether he fits the bill of what Antonio Conte is looking for in a wing-back due to his relative lack of physicality.
