Journalist predicts ‘reasonable chance’ Spurs star joins Real Madrid this summer

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed there is a possibility that Sergio Reguilon could leave Tottenham to rejoin Real Madrid this summer.

Reguilon linked up with Spurs from Real two seasons ago, with the LaLiga side including a buy-back clause worth £27.5 million which is valid until the end of the upcoming transfer window (Football London).

The 25-year-old has featured prominently for the club but has struggled to nail down a place under Antonio Conte, who has been mixing his options at left wing-back with Ryan Sessegnon also in consideration.

Reguilon has been linked with a move back to Spain at the end of the season, with Football Insider claiming Tottenham have already received interest in the defender, who has made 31 appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

And Jones predicts there is a ‘reasonable chance’ that Reguilon departs North London to make a return to Madrid – something he believes could suit all parties.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “He’s done OK, but he hasn’t set the world alight. It might suit all parties for him to return to Real Madrid and for him to settle in back there. I think there’s a reasonable chance that it happens.”

Reguilon’s stint at Spurs hasn’t exactly panned out how many expected or hoped it would, which could make a transfer a very real possibility.

His first season produced some good displays, but he just hasn’t managed to replicate that in a more advanced role under Conte.

If Real do come back in for Reguilon, Spurs may be resigned to losing him which could then allow them to find a player that is better suited to the formation.
