Journalist predicts Spurs are unlikely to win race for 25-year-old PL winger

Dean Jones has stated that he does not expect Tottenham to be successful in their rumoured pursuit of Leeds United winger Jack Harrison.

The Telegraph claimed recently that Spurs hold an interest in Harrison ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report explained that Antonio Conte sees the 25-year-old as being a good fit for the left wing-back role in his system and that Spurs enquired about the player’s availability in January, only to be told by Leeds that he is not for sale.

Spurs are thought to be on the lookout for a new left wing-back this summer, with reports indicating that Conte is not convinced by Sergio Reguilon and has given the green light for the club to cash in on the striker (Football Insider).

However, Jones has insisted that Harrison, who is contracted to Leeds until 2024 (Transfermarkt), is not likely to swap Elland Road for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

When asked about the speculation linking the winger to a move to North London, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “I don’t really see that it’s likely. I can see why they might be interested in him at this point, but I don’t see it happening, to be honest with you.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the players we have been linked with for both the wing-back roles, it seems like Conte wants to sign a winger who is good in one vs one situations and covert him into a wing-back. That is arguably easier than teaching a full-back to have an impact in the final third. So, I am curious to see the kind of players we go for in the summer.
