Journalist predicts Spurs ‘could definitely’ sign £51m-rated striker this summer

Journalist Jacque Talbot has claimed that Lautaro Martinez moving to Tottenham Hotspur is very much on the cards this summer.

Over the last few days, most transfer reports have revolved around Tottenham’s pursuit of another Inter player in Alessandro Bastoni, with the 23-year-old thought to be Tottenham’s first-choice centre-back target (Corriere della Sera – 31/05/22 via Sport Witness).

Bastoni’s Inter teammate Martinez has also been linked with a move to the North London club in recent times, with some publications indicating that the Nerazzurri are open to cashing in on the Argentine (TuttoSport).

Antonio Conte is alleged to be on reuniting with the forward at Spurs (Inter Live) while Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the Inter star (The Times).

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed a couple of weeks ago that Simone Inzaghi’s side would consider an offer of around £51m for Martinez this summer.

Talbot has insisted the striker is very much still on Tottenham’s wishlist and that Inter could cash in on him.

He told GiveMeSport: “Inter Milan need to make money, they need to sell players to make money.

“They’re in debt, they need to make about 50 million Euros. Getting someone like Martinez is on Spurs’ list and could definitely happen.”

Spurs Web Opinion

One would assume that Inter would not sell both Bastoni and Martinez this summer despite their financial issues. The former seems more likely to be sold given that he only has two years left on his contract at the San Siro while the latter’s current contract runs until 2026.
