Journalist predicts Spurs could look at 24-year-old defender this summer

The Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could take a look at RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele this summer.

Multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano (GiveMeSport) and Sami Mokbel (Last Word on Spurs), have said that Conte could be on the lookout for other defensive reinforcements as well as Clement Lenglet this summer.

Madueke is one of the names who was linked with Spurs earlier in the transfer window, with The Daily Mirror reporting last month that the Lilywhites were exploring a move for the France international.

The report added Leipzig would be willing to let the 24-year-old leave this summer for a fee of around £17m since he has just 12 months left to run on his contract at the Red Bull Arena.

Taylor has now suggested that Conte might be eyeing Madueke as an option to add depth in the right centre-back role.

When asked if Spurs are considering any alternatives to Djed Spence, the journalist said on Chris Cowlin YouTube channel: “There was Nordi Mukiele at Leipzig who they have looked at in the past, but I would say that he’s more likely to feature as a right centre-back, he’s not really a wing-back as such.

“He has played at right-back for Leipzig, but he usually plays in a back four. Mukiele is one that they’d probably look at, he has been targeted previously under Jose Mourinho.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would rather see Spurs keep hold of Tanganga rather than sign Mukiele. Their attributes are quite similar, they would both be able to cover the same positions, and I would argue that Tanganga’s ceiling is higher than the Frenchman’s.
