The Telegraph’s Matt Law has suggested that Guglielmo Vicario may be the next in line for a contract extension at Tottenham Hotspur after Desinty Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr signed long-term deals.
Both Udogie and Sarr have now committed themselves to six-year deals at the North London club, with the Lilywhites offering a pay hike to the left-back and the midfielder to reflect their importance to the side.
Vicario has also consistently demonstrated his value right from his first outing for Spurs, with the Italian yet to put a foot wrong since his switch.
Apart from his excellent shot-stopping skills and his ability to make the right decisions under pressure, the 27-year-old is also quickly emerging as a leader of this young Tottenham side.
Several pundits have named the former Empoli man as the best goalkeeper on show in the Premier League so far this season (GiveMeSport), which is certainly a big compliment for someone who is new to English football.
Should Tottenham offer Vicario a new contract?
Law said that the Spurs number one could be handed a contract extension sooner rather than later.
The journalist told the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “I wouldn’t be surprised if at some stage they look at Vicario you know. He’s not a kid.
“Again, I don’t know whether they’d give him a really long-term contract. But I wouldn’t be surprised given how well he’s playing in his form if they had a little look at Vicario.
“Probably more end-of-season job. I can’t see why they would be in any rush to do it at the start of the season.”

This seems like guesswork from Law rather than being based on any concrete information he has heard from his sources.
While Udogie and Sarr were both on extremely modest contracts, Vicario was signed as a number one and thus earns a decent £75,000-a-week contract.
Tottenham might have earmarked him for a potential pay rise in a year or so but I do not think the club would be in a hurry to hand him a new deal right away.
