Journalist predicts Spurs staring line up against Man Utd based on Norwich friendly

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s friendly against Norwich City last Friday has given an indication as to the team that Jose Mourinho is likely to start with against Manchester United.

Mourinho will seemingly have the luxury of picking from a near-fully-fit squad for the first time since he arrived at Tottenham back in November.

With the exception of Dele Alli, who is suspended for the United clash, the Spurs boss could have everybody else available for selection.

However, Gold believes that Giovani Lo Celso might not be fit enough to take the field against the Red Devils as the Argentine was nowhere to be found in the pictures from the Norwich friendly.

The former Real Betis man also failed to take part in the internal eleven vs eleven friendly held among the squad two weeks ago.

When asked in a Q and A to name the eleven that he expects to start against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, Gold responded: “I’ve changed my mind on this after Friday’s friendly.

“Davinson Sanchez took part on Friday after seeming to miss the in-house one which gives Mourinho a bit more pace at the back but Lo Celso has not appeared in pics.

“There’s also the West Ham game to think of. I’m going (4-2-3-1 which can be 4-3-3) Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Winks, Sissoko; Son, Ndombele, Bergwijn; Kane.”

If Lo Celso is not fit for the match, then I expect a similar team to start to the one Gold named. However, I do believe that Mourinho could potentially start Erik Lamela in the attacking midfield role and bring Ndombele on in the final thirty minutes or so when the opposition is tiring.
