Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has claimed that if Tottenham are going to spend big money on one position this summer, it will be a striker.
According to reports, Antonio Conte wants to make six new additions this summer, including a striker (Telegraph).
Martinez is the one who has been linked most heavily with a move to North London, with reports indicating that Antonio Conte is keen on reuniting with the Argentine international at Spurs (Inter Live).
Corriere della Sera claimed recently that Inter would be open to cashing in on the 24-year-old and named the Lilywhites as the second favourites behind Atletico Madrid for the forward’s signature.
Brown believes that if there is one area of the pitch in which Spurs are going to spend big on this summer, it would be in the forward area as the Lilywhites tried in vain to sign a striker in the January window.
When asked about speculation linking Martinez with a move to Tottenham, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “That’d be a massively exciting signing, but it would cost Spurs a lot of money.
“I just think if they’re to spend a huge amount this summer, it’s clearly going to be on a striker because they were willing to spend quite big in January to bring one in.”

I am not sure that signing a top-class forward would be Tottenham’s biggest priority in the summer. A right wing-back, a left centre-back and a central midfielder are arguably more pressing needs. That is why I have my doubts over whether the club would spend the majority of their budget on a player like Martinez.
