Journalist predicts ‘strong possibility’ Spurs could be frontrunners for star if he wants PL move

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed there is a ‘strong possibility’ that Tottenham Hotspur could swoop for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala this summer.

Dybala seems destined to leave Juventus on a free transfer this summer after the Serie A club’s CEO Maurizio Arrivabene revealed last week that the Argentine will not be renewing his contract (TuttoMercatoWeb).

Multiple sources over the last week (Foot Mercato and Sky Italia) have named Spurs as one of the leading contenders for the forward’s signature.

Some reports have also claimed that the 28-year-old’s agent is in contact with Spurs over a potential summer transfer (90 min).

It has also been suggested that the Lilywhites could face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain for Dybala’s signature this summer (Calciomercato.it).

O’Rourke believes the Juventus forward could well be bound for the Premier League this summer and suggested that Tottenham could be the front-runners to land the player.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think if there’s a chance that Dybala does come to the Premier League. I think there’s a real strong possibility that Spurs could be leading the hunt for him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This seems like an educated guess from O’Rourke, rather than the journalist relying on some inside sources. I would be surprised if Tottenham win the race for Dybala’s signature as there are other clubs in the Premier League and around Europe, who arguably need the Argentine more than we do.
