Journalist predicts there is ‘every chance’ Kane will sign a new Spurs contract

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has said that while Bayern Munich are interested in signing Harry Kane, the Tottenham striker could well sign a new deal at the North London club.

Kane only has 18 months left to run on his current contract (Transfermarkt) and reports from Germany continue to link the striker with a switch to Bayern next summer (Fussball Nachrichten).

However, the print edition of Sport BILD (04/01/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) claimed last week that there are ‘doubts growing internally’ at the Bundesliga club regarding whether the 29-year-old would be open to a move to the Allianz Arena.

The report explained that Bayern’s pursuit of Kane is further complicated by their desire to tie down Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting to a new contract as the Cameroonian would leave the club if they sign the Tottenham man.

Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs provided another positive update for Spurs fans last week, revealing on The Football Terrace that the Lilywhites are hopeful of convincing Kane to commit to his future by providing him with a say in their footballing decisions going forward.

Sheth has now said that trophies are not the only thing that motivates the England captain and suggested that there is ‘every chance’ that he could stay at his boyhood club.

He told Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel regarding Kane: “There is all this talk about Bayern Munich being interested in him, that is true. Bayern are very interested in him. Do I see him going to Bayern? I’m not so sure.

“It is very important to Kane not only to win trophies but to break records at Tottenham. But he wants to break the Premier League record. I do see him staying. Every chance he signs a new contract.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane has always been clear about his wish to remain in the Premier League and I believe that he would have likely made up his mind to stay at Spurs the second Man City snapped up Haaland.

No other Premier League club would offer the striker a guarantee of winning silverware as City would have. However, that does not mean that the 29-year-old will stay at Spurs no matter what as he will want to see the club show some ambition.
