Journalist predicts whether Spurs are more likely to sign playmaker or centre-back

Tottenham Hotspur may have already been one of the most active teams in the summer transfer window, however, the club could still be looking to sign more players, according to reports.

The Evening Standard reported earlier this summer that Spurs could still target a playmaker and a centre-back before the window closes.

Spurs moved quickly to sign Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, and Richarlison at the start of the summer. Those signings were joined by Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence more recently to take the number of new faces at the North London club to six.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have all but completed a move for Italian left wing back Destiny Udogie, with the Udinese player set to remain on loan in Serie A for this season and will travel to London at the start of next week to undergo a medical (Gianluca Di Marzio).

But it seems Spurs are not done there, as they look to add further depth and quality to an already impressive squad. According to Charlie Eccleshare from The Athletic, an attacking midfielder is more likely than a centre-back for Tottenham this summer.

He said (GiveMeSport): “I think they may make that signing, the attacking midfielder, if the opportunity presents itself. Less likely, but possible is another centre-back. I don’t think Conte will perhaps want it to go down to the last day.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs have already recruited fantastically this summer, and getting the majority of the business done early was a very smart move.

It now puts the club in a position where they can operate with very little pressure, and add one or two more carefully considered signings to really put the cherry on top of an already strong squad.

If Spurs do indeed bring in an attacking midfielder and a centre-back, you have to put them in the conversation for a title challenge.
