Journalist provides Alexis Mac Allister update amid Spurs and Arsenal links

TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul has revealed that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Alexis Mac Allister is expected to leave Brighton in the summer.

Mac Allister was one of the heroes of Argentina’s victorious World Cup campaign, with the Brighton star stepping up in the absence of the injured Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Unsurprisingly, his displays in Qatar reportedly caught the attention of several big clubs in the Premier League, with Spurs (L’Interesta), Arsenal (Ben Jacobs), Liverpool (La Repubblica) and Chelsea (The Athletic) being credited with an interest in the 24-year-old.

CMW.it even claimed ahead of the January transfer window that Antonio Conte was a big fan of Mac Allister even before his exploits at the World Cup and that the Italian had instructed the Tottenham hierarchy to make a push for the player.

Mac Allister ended up staying put at the Amex Stadium in January but if Edul’s latest update is to be believed, the midfielder will part ways with the Seagulls at the end of the season.

The journalist revealed that the midfielder’s father, who represents him, has travelled to England to have talks regarding his son’s future.

Mac Allister is contracted to Brighton until 2025, with the club having the option of extending it by another year (Transfermarkt). So, the 24-year-old will likely cost upwards of £50m in the summer.

I would not be surprised if Conte makes the Argentine his top target in the summer (if the Italian is still at Spurs) as the former Boca Juniors star would fit in well into the 3-4-3 system.
