Man City hold a long-term interest in Tottenham’s Pedro Porro

It has now been revealed by Pete O’Rourke that Man City have also been fans of the Spanish international for a long time.

Porro is a product of City’s academy, and the journalist expects Pep Guardiola’s men to explore a deal to take the Tottenham man back to the Etihad Stadium.

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “(Man City) have had a long-term interest in Pedro Porro. They know all about the Spanish international, having signed him from Girona in 2019.

“He never played a game for Man City during his time at the club. He had spells out on loan at Real Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon, which is where he made a real name for himself.

“Porro has been a top performer for Spurs since his arrival at the club. They won’t really want to lose him, but it could be out of their hands if they were to suffer the ill fate of being relegated this season, which is a real possibility.

“I’m sure a number of clubs, not just Manchester City, are looking at Porro and other Tottenham players to see who they could maybe steal away if the worst happens to Tottenham and they are relegated.”

Spurs have already identified a replacement for Porro

It has been reported that Tottenham may be tempted to cash in on Porro this summer after the full-back has been targeted by the supporters this season.

Additionally, it has been claimed that Spurs have identified Atalanta’s rising star Marco Palestra as a possible Porro replacement.

Palestra is impressing on loan at Cagliari this season, and his performances have also allegedly attracted the interest of Arsenal, Brentford and Brighton.
