Journalist provides positive update on potential Spurs sale of Gio Lo Celso

The Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that Villarreal are set to outline their intention to sign Giovani Lo Celso on a permanent deal this summer.

Lo Celso has been in terrific form since his loan move to El Madrigal in January, with Unai Emery getting the best out of the Argentine in an advanced role.

The 25-year-old does not appear to have a future under Antonio Conte at Spurs, with The Evening Standard reporting this week that the midfielder is one of the players the North Londoners want to offload this summer.

The report explained that, unlike some other players that they wish to sell, Spurs expect plenty of clubs to show interest in Lo Celso.

If Taylor’s latest update is to be believed, Villarreal will now try to steal a march on other clubs by pushing ahead with a permanent move for the Tottenham man.

It is explained that the Yellow Submarine were initially put off by Spurs’ asking price but their stance has changed thanks to Lo Celso’s form and the additional revenue they have earned due to their Champions League run.

Here’s what the journalist tweeted regarding Villarreal’s pursuit of the midfielder:

Spurs Web Opinion

Villarreal might want to get a deal for Lo Celso concluded early but I do not think Spurs will be in any hurry. The midfielder is likely to attract plenty of interest and the North Londoners will look to get a bidding war going to recoup as much of the fee they paid for the midfielder as possible.
