Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has revealed that Cristian Romero is expected to feature in Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon this evening.
Romero and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg both missed Tottenham’s clash against Newcastle on Sunday, along with the longer-term absentees Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.
Their absence was certainly felt as Spurs fell to their first defeat at home in all competitions since their defeat to Brighton back in April.
In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Conte revealed that Romero missed the Newcastle game owing to fatigue in his calf and he said that he was unsure whether the centre-back would be fit to feature against Sporting (Football.London).
Neither Romero or Hojbjerg were spotted training with their teammates at Hotspur Way on Tuesday (Rob Guest).
Edul has now taken to social media to state that Romero is ‘fine’ and that he was merely suffering from ‘muscular fatigue’. The journalist added that the 24-year-old is expected to be involved in this evening’s clash.

I do not think Conte will want to risk either Romero and Hojbjerg this evening if they are not 100 per cent. The last thing we need is to lose one of those two for a few weeks, given the injury issues we already have.
