Amidst reports of Tottenham’s interest in appointing Julian Nagelsmann, Bild journalist Christian Falk has now revealed that the German coach was intrigued by the idea of joining the North London club before he took the Bayern Munich job.
With Nagelsmann now on the market after being let go by Bayern, reports over the last couple of days have indicated that Tottenham have wasted no time in reaching out to the 35-year-old (The Times).
The Daily Mail reported on Monday that Daniel Levy is waiting to hear back from the German and that the Spurs chairman wants to weigh up his chances of appointing the recently departed Bayern boss before turning his attention to other candidates.
Falk has now explained that joining Tottenham was one of the options that Nagelsmann had considered when he mapped out his coaching career a couple of years ago.
The journalist explained that the former RB Leipzig boss wanted to take an intermediate step before taking on one of the five biggest jobs in world football, with Spurs being one of the destinations that he had his eye on.
Julian Nagelsmann had another career plan in mind, before joining @FCBayern in 2021, specifically making a step in between before joining one of the top five clubs in world football. One of the clubs in his plan was Tottenham. perhaps they will give him a call now @caughtoffside

Just because Nagelsmann had been open to the idea of joining Spurs a couple of years ago, does not necessarily mean that the move would appeal to him now.
The German is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after managers in world football and he would likely be near the top of Real Madrid’s wishlist if they part ways with Carlo Ancelotti.
