Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has revealed that Brentford are now making progress in their efforts to sign a potential replacement for rumoured Tottenham target David Raya.
Hugo Lloris appears to be on his way out of Tottenham this summer, with The Athletic reporting last week that Spurs are eyeing a move for Raya and the Frenchman is not likely to remain at the North London club as an understudy next season.
They were not the only publication to report on Spurs’ interest in the Brentford number one, with The Telegraph claiming a few days ago that the Spaniard is at the top of the Lilywhites’ wishlist.
The publication added that Thomas Frank’s men value Raya at around £40m and they have already looked at triggering the £11.3m release clause of Freiburg’s Mark Flekken as a potential replacement.
Lyall Thomas has now revealed that Brentford are making progress in talks over a deal for Flekken, with the Bees said to be ready to pay the Dutchman’s release clause.
The report adds that while the deal is not done yet, the Freiburg star is expected to be on his way out of the Bundesliga club this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion
It is fairly clear that Raya is on his way out of Brentford this summer as he has one year left on his current contract and does not seem to have any intention of signing a new deal.
I have no doubt that he would be Tottenham’s number one target but the 27-year-old might hesitate to make the move, given that we might not have any European football to offer next season.
