Journalist provides update as ex-Chelsea sporting director is spotted at Tottenham

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has claimed that Christopher Vivell is not in contention to become Tottenham’s next director of football despite being spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Scott Munn officially began work as Spurs’ chief operating officer two weeks ago and reports have indicated that one of his first priorities at the club is to appoint a new sporting director (The Athletic).

That position has remained vacant at Tottenham since Fabio Paratici resigned from his position as the club’s managing director of football back in April.

Christopher Vivell will not be joining Tottenham

Vivell, who served as Chelsea’s technical director from December 2020 to July of this year, was spotted in attendance during Spurs’ clash against Liverpool.

That has led to some speculation on social media over whether the German, who has previously worked at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, was in line to take over at Tottenham.

However, Law has revealed that his sources at Spurs insist that the 36-year-old is not one of the candidates in the running for the job.

Levy and Munn would be keen to appoint the best available candidate and are thus likely to take their time to speak to various directors.

However, Leonardo Gabbanini’s departure as a chief scout suggests that the North London club are not far off from putting a new structure in place and are confident of bringing a sporting director through the door before the January window.
