Journalist provides update on Destiny Udogie’s injury at Tottenham

Charlie Eccleshare has revealed on The Athletic’s live blog that Destiny Udogie’s injury is not serious and that the left-back is hoping to make a swift recovery.

Udogie was suspended for the clash against Wolves but there was no update from Tottenham suggesting that the 20-year-old was injured, which was why many were bewildered when the youngster was left out of Italy’s squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers (TMW).

However, Italy manager Luciano Spalletti subsequently confirmed to SkyItalia on Monday that the former Udinese man was omitted from the squad due to an injury.

Destiny Udogie’s injury is not serious

Eccleshare has now revealed that it is the reoccurrence of the same hamstring problem that kept Udogie out of the win over Crystal Palace last month.

The journalist explained that the injury is not serious and that the defender will spend the next two weeks rehabilitating at Hotspur Way. He added that Spurs hope Udogie will be fit for the clash against Aston Villa on November 25.

Given the amount of injuries that Postecoglou is dealing with, Spurs desperately need Udogie fit as soon as possible as we evidently lose a lot going forward by playing Emerson Royal at left-back.
