Journalist provides update on Inter Milan’s stance over Bastoni sale to Spurs

Tottenham are continuing to push to sign Alessandro Bastoni with Inter Milan likely to sanction a move if they receive a convincing offer, according to Italian journalist Daniele Longo.

Spurs have identified the Italy international as a top target this summer (Football Insider) after Antonio Conte requested the club to pursue a left-sided centre-back ahead of the new season (The Athletic).

However, the Evening Standard reported Tottenham’s pursuit could be hindered by the fact that Bastoni is reluctant to leave Inter and happy with his place with the Nerazzurri, despite a potential reunion with Conte on the cards.

But a move is not completely off the table, with Longo now reporting that Spurs are continuing to work towards submitting a formal offer.

The journalist has claimed the Premier League side have remained in contact with Bastoni’s agent Tullio Tinti and are looking to clarify the figures behind a potential deal.

And crucially, should Inter receive a tempting enough offer, they would be willing to give the ‘go-ahead’ on a transfer being completed this summer.

The Times notes Bastoni has been valued north of £50 million by last season’s Serie A champions, while his contract at the San Siro is not set to expire until the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt).

It looks as though Spurs will keep pursuing Bastoni throughout the summer and it will be the case given it is not an easy move to complete.

As expected, he is not a cheap player to acquire so it will take time for things to fall into place, but it is good that they are starting to sound things out early to avoid missing out much later.
