Journalist provides update on price Spurs need to pay for Adama Traore

Dharmesh Sheth told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports this week that Tottenham Hotspur will have to have to make an offer upwards of £45m to have any chance of signing Adama Traore.

The speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Traore has gone into hyperdrive since Monday, with the North London club alleged to have stepped up their interest in the winger who caused their defence all sorts of problems on Sunday.

It was initially reported that Spurs were in talks with Wolves regarding a loan deal for Traore with a view to making it permanent for £40m and some sources suggested that the West Midlands club were expected to accept the offer.

However, The Times then revealed that Wolves had turned down Tottenham’s loan offer with an option to purchase Traore and that Bruno Lage’s side would only accept a loan deal for the winger if it involved a guaranteed sale at the end of it.

Sheth has now shed more light on Wolves’ position, revealing that the club want a fee higher than the £45m they got from Liverpool for Diogo Joto in order to let Traore go.

The journalist insisted that the Lilywhites will have to increase their offer to that amount to even bring Wolves to the negotiating table.

Given that Traore has only two years left on his contract, one would imagine that Wolves would be under pressure to sell if they receive a decent offer in the coming days.

Even though Traore is arguably overpriced at £40m-£45m, I believe the club should get the deal done if Nuno is convinced that the 25-year-old can add something to the side.
