Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has revealed that Napoli are now ready to open talks with rumoured Tottenham target Kim Min-Jae regarding a new contract.
Kim has hardly put a foot wrong since his switch to Naples in the summer and the centre-back’s displays in Serie A this season would have perhaps left the likes of Spurs ruing the fact that they did not sign the South Korean.
CalcioMercatoWeb.it revealed last month that the centre-back’s performances have caught the attention of Spurs and several other Premier League clubs, who might try to poach him from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium as early as January.
The Daily Mirror then reported two weeks ago that Kim has a release clause of €50m (£43.4m) in his contract, and that the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid also have their eyes on the former Fenerbahce man.
Schira has now taken to social media to reveal that Napoli are now set to begin their efforts to tie the defender down to a new deal.
The journalist explains that the club are willing to offer Kim a new contract that runs until 2027, thereby removing the release clause that exists in the player’s current deal.
#Napoli are ready to open talks to extend #KimMinJae’s contract, which expires in 2025. Azzurri want to extend until 2027 and to delete the release clause of €50M valid from July 1 to July 15. #transfers

Spurs Web Opinion
I wonder if Kim would be tempted to see what kind of offers he gets in January before signing a new deal with Napoli. However, Luciano Spalletti’s men are flying high this season, which might convince the 26-year-old that he is in the right place to win silverware.
