The Athletic’s David Ornstein has claimed that, among the clubs interested in Dusan Vlahovic, Arsenal are currently in the ‘strongest position’ to complete a deal for the Fiorentina striker.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Vlahovic since Antonio Conte’s arrival at the club at the start of November.
It was previously reported that Spurs are facing competition for the striker from their North London rivals Arsenal, as well as from Manchester City and Juventus.
Ornstein has now claimed that among all of Vlahovic’s suitors, the Gunners are ‘the best placed’ to complete a deal when it comes to both the transfer fee and salary they can offer.
He added that Mikel Arteta’s side could also use Lucas Torreira as a makeweight in the deal for the 21-year-old.
However, Ornstein suggested that there is a feeling that neither Spurs nor Arsenal are Vlahovic’s preferred destination.
The journalist alleged that the centre-forward would prefer to remain in the Serie A and join Juventus.

Vlahovic has been one of the best number nines in world football over the last 12 months. So, the striker will likely feel that he is ready to move to a club where he can compete for titles. I thus suspect that neither Spurs nor Arsenal have a chance of getting him.
