Journalist provides update on Spurs’ striker pursuit – Names one possible candidate

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now fully focused on signing a striker, with the required funds being made available for such a purchase.

Tottenham have already secured the signings of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty but Fabrizio Romano revealed recently on the Last Word on Spurs podcast that the Lilywhites were looking to bring in another striker, centre-back and a winger.

However, Gold has now claimed that Spurs are not looking to sign another winger or an attacking midfielder this summer, with only a striker and a centre-back on the club’s radar.

It is revealed that while the Lilywhites might have to sell players in order to fund their move for a central defender, as the current budget is allocated to a new striker.

It is claimed that while Spurs initially showed interest in Callum Wilson and Arkadiusz Milik, the North Londoners are unlikely to return for either player, having shifted their attentions elsewhere.

The report also asserts that links to Diego Costa and Chris Wood are also wide off the mark.

However, it is revealed that there is truth to the club’s rumoured interest in Metz striker Habib Diallo, with the 25-year-old fitting the profile of centre-forward Mourinho wants to sign.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Fabrizio Romano only suggested that another winger was on Tottenham’s wish list as he was informed of our attempts to sign Nicolo Zaniolo. It is clear that a central defender and a striker are our priorities before the transfer window shuts in a months time. However, if we manage to fill those two areas within the next couple of weeks, I would not be surprised if Levy attempted a big move late in the window.
